Yea, it’s been a while…

Like a year or two? Sorry, but as you can imagine, it’s been busy to say the least. We’ve finally sold our house and are living in a temp. 1000 sq. foot house. SMALL to say the least. Well, it will be worth it. Our new house should be done in the end of July/Aug time frame. We are very excited about building a new house, but just don’t want to have to wait. It’s going to be well worth it though.

I’m going to post another entry catching everyone up on the girls.

Thanks!

Ella’s stepping out…

Well, it looks like Ella’s going to be the first walker. She took about 5 steps, unassisted between me and Monica. It was awesome to see!! I kinda made her do it, but it’s time to step up. She was so excited that she didn’t want to stop. She ended up doing it about 20 times between us. Now, if we could just teach her how to stand up, we’d be in serious trouble!!

Birthday girls!

Well, 1 year old’s now! What big girls they have become. The girls first birthday was a pretty big milestone for us and them. The first year of their life started out pretty tough, but has slowly been getting better and better. The party was awesome. Monica made way too much food and other stuff, but I guess I’ll have that to look forward to every year. She really wanted to, and had fun doing it all. We had a pretty good guest list, and the girls got way too much, but I guess I’ll have to get used to that as well.

Emma seemed to really LOVE her cake! Ella, not so much, but she did eat some. Emma ate or maybe wore, probably half of her’s. It was awesome to watch them try to figure out what to do with it. Monica wanted to make their cakes and did an awesome job! It was great.

The girls first gift from us was their Dora chairs. We tried them out in them in the store, and they seemed to like them. When we broke them out, they sat in them the whole time they opened all their other gifts. It was pretty funny. They opened their gifts like they’d done it 100 times before. Man, they are acting like big girls already!

It was an awesome day for them and us!

I know it’s been a while!

But as you can see, we have twins, and they are keeping us busy beyond words!!

Man, so much has happened since our last entry. The girls are crawling, if you want to call it that, more like slimming across the floor, and pulling themselves up. It’s not going to be long before they are walking and getting into everything. They already do.

They took their very first trip to the beach this past weekend. Down to Edisto, one of our favorite places. They weren’t initially huge fans of the sand when they decided to chow down on some, and rub it in their eyes, but after a while, they seemed to love it, which is awesome. It was a good time and we’re sure they’ll love these beach trips in the future!! They’ll have to right?

Well all joking aside, it was about a year and a day ago that these precious little girls came into our lives so much earlier than they were supposed to. And I think back about how scared and nervous we were about everything, especially them deciding to come about 2 months early! We didn’t feel like they were ready yet, hoping and praying to god to please let these little angels survive and bring us the joy and love we prayed for. Ella almost didn’t make it, but as they said, she had the will to live, and fought through what some babies can’t. And I thank god everyday for watching over the both of them, and bringing them into our lives. They are truly the blessings of our lifetime.

Happy Birthday girls! We look so forward to every new day with you!!

Not to be outdone…

Miss Ella decided that she would have nothing to do with it, and decided to roll over for the first time as well. She rolled over so fast she almost shot off her bed! It was funny….that girl doesn’t do anything slow and easy. That’s what I love about her so much.

On another awesome note, Miss Emma also lost her party hat “helmet” today. Great news for her!! Her head is once again round as can be. We are so thrilled for her. She didn’t seem to mind to much, but it did look aggravating!

Emma on a roll…

Yep, she actually rolled over for the first time tonight. I told y’all I was going to try and be more on the ball. We are actually trying to document things on here for the girls as well for later on. This is a baby book more or less. We were so impressed with her roll, that we made her do it again! I’m thinking that helmet and big head helped her out, but whatever it takes right?! Awesome!

Em

wow….all I got to say is wow!!

Man, it’s been forever–but, things are awesome!! I don’t know how much everyone knows, but the girls are doing fantastic! Ella, on the 26th of January, 3 days before me and Monica’s first anniversary, graduated to big girl land, and lost her last piece of luggage, her Brady-Apnea monitor! She lost her oxygen on Dec. 23— what a GREAT Christmas present that was. The doctors, nurses, and medical equipment people were fantastic getting it done right before Christmas. We are truly blessed!

Since then, Miss Emma decided to get rid of her flat spot on the back of her head, and cost her daddy-o a chunk of cash by getting a head-band– but she’s my little girl so she’s worth it! She’s done awesome with it, and we’re hoping that she’ll be getting rid of it in the next week or two. Man, once that happens, we’ll have 2 totally normal baby girls. Well, as normal as they can be for being Drexels!!

The girls also had to first Christmas outing to see everyone, and everyone loved them!! We spent Christmas Eve at Aunt Sha and Uncle Monty’s, and everyone there got to see them. Then, they made their first official road trip to Charleston to go to their nana’s house. They seemed to enjoy that, they slept all the way down there that night. Christmas day was awesome, and they whole Charleston crowd go to meet the 2 new rockstars. Everyone there loved them as well. How could you not!!

Stay tuned, I’m going to try and stay on the ball a little better this time! These girls are kickin’ my booty! I sure don’t know how we ever lived without them before! We are once again truly blessed!

Double your fun!

Wow, it’s been a while, but we’ve actually been up to our armpits in babies! Emma has been home for about 2 weeks, and we finally got miss Ella home this past Wednesday. It’s been an adjustment to say the least. It was really easy with 1 baby, and at times it almost felt like, “do we even have a baby here?”. Well that is no more! We know that we have 2 now. Twice the feedings, twice the diapers, twice the fussing, twice the loving! It’s awesome actually, but it very, very busy! Ella came home on Oxygen, Brady/Apnea monitor, and an oxygen/HR monitor. That’s fun to work with when you’re changing diapers, feedings and leaving the house! Hopefully, she will not be on it real long! When we were bathing her last night, we took her cannula off to take some pics…she’s beautiful!

I’m getting time to finally write this because both girls are knocked out from their formula bottles. They have to have 2 a day. Sometimes they sleep a little better when they have them. I hear miss Emma in there grunting up a storm…anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that we have not fell off the face of the earth, just feels like it sometimes!

35 Weeks old…

and counting. It’s looking like miss big girl Emma is going to come home Friday. We are very excited about it, but are also sad because miss Ella has to stay behind. She still has a ways to go with her oxygen. She’s been thru so much, that it’s going to take a little while for her little lungs to heal. She’s eating well, and that’s awesome! Miss Emma is one of the gassiest babies I have ever seen!! She blasted on me tonight at least 30 times and we were really only there an hour! Wow, we are in some serious trouble! Tonight was also her car seat test which was pretty cool to see. She’s up to 4 lbs 14oz. On a tear. Miss Ella is up to 3 lbs 4 oz. She’s getting there. Can’t wait to see her big like her sister!!

Miss Emma

Video time…Chillin’ in the NICU.

Well, Emma was supposed to come home this weekend, but she had a bradycardia the other day, and she’s now on an 8-day countdown to see if she doesn’t have another. If she does, her count starts over. Ella is doing well, and just chillin’ and growing. She’s about the same on her oxygen, maybe a little better. They offered her a bottle, but she didn’t go crazy on it like her sister did. She played a little and that was about it.

Ella is up to 3 lbs 2 oz, and her sister is in at a whopping 4lbs 10oz. The girl in not playing. Got some cool video earlier tonight.
